Basketball
Basketball at the Annandale Boys & Girls Club serves over 1,200 registered basketball players each year and offers two distinct leagues (Recreational and County) based on age group and playing ability. The Recreational League is split further into Developmental (K-3) and House (4-12) levels that stress increasingly advanced fundamentals of play.
ABGC coaches introduce our youngest players to basic basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and hustle while sparking their love for the game. Teams engage with smaller equipment and shorter games/practices while they develop shooting, ball-handling, and defensive techniques. All players are guaranteed equal playing time at Saturday games (9AM-3PM schedule) from January to mid-March. Depending upon registration, developmental teams may be co-ed at the K-1 level.
New and returning players are welcome to compete in ABGC’s House League, where they learn more team-based offensive and defensive concepts while continuing to hone their individual skills. Scores and standings are maintained during the regular season. In weekend games from January to mid-March, all players are guaranteed playing time, usually a minimum of one quarter each half.
The County League is for players in grades 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th (Boys/Girls) who wish to prepare to play high school basketball and is highly competitive. Teams are selected after rigorous tryouts in early October with players not selected asked to play in the House League.
